It's our belief that the UK and US editions were simultaneously published making these first editions. One of the strongest pieces of evidence in this claim is the fact that both editions were printed on the Continent and year of publication for each volume is indicated on the it's title page. It is a curiousity to us that while the George Allen editions are widely held institutionally Worldcat shows no institutions holding the Dodd Mead editions. <br/><br/> Dodd, Mead hardcover
