1933521Chicago: H. M. Gousha 1933. 23 1/4 x 17 1/2 inches. Very good condition. This is a highly decorative Depression Era map of the United States. The design on the front cover is a modest view of getting gas at the pump. A uniformed attendant puts the gas in the back of the sedan. The verso of the map is filled with panels of attractive people and the friendly servers of Gulf gasoline clearly marked on the pumps. There is a lubrication chart that lists the different automobile makes in 1933. What an expanded selection with names like Auburn Cadillac Cord Durant Hupmobile Isotta-Fraschini Locomobile Pierce-Arrow Stutz and Willys among many others. There ia also a transcontinental mileage chart. This is a fun piece highlights by a superb graphic presentation of the map of the United States. H. M. Gousha unknown

Revised edition of Western Powers updated from the 1958 briefing including a length section on the "British position in the Arabian Peninsula and the Persian Gulf" framing six decades of British foreign policy within the context of Lord Curzon's 1899 analysis of the Gulf. "This memorandum had its origin in the need to put together for immediate use during the summer of 1958 documents and statements relating to the latest of the recurring crises in the Middle East". It outlines treaty commitments to different Gulf states and provides a documentary chronology of Britain's diplomatic relationships. The memorandum on Libya discusses topics such as defence population agriculture and fisheries transportation and budgets and finance. Two works quarto. Mimeographed typescript in both vols. Rare surviving item of corporate ephemera from the brief period when the potential for the Peaceful Uses of Nuclear Explosives were actively considered and investigated. This document is undated but has content indicating that it was produced no earlier than 1962. Because it is a product of Gulf General Atomic it was produced between 1967 and 1973 based on when this name was officially used. Based on context this document is probably from the earlier part of this period. This is a marketing brochure for Gulf General Atomic's field services and highlights some of its expertise developed in support of nuclear-effects computer code development high-explosive experimental verification and analytical and experimental participation in underground nuclear explosive testing. Also highlighted is their experience with chemical explosives. General Atomics is an American energy and defense corporation headquartered in San Diego California specializing in research and technology development. This includes physics research in support of nuclear fission and nuclear fusion energy. The company also provides research and manufacturing services for remotely operated surveillance aircraft including the Predator drones airborne sensors and advanced electric electronic wireless and laser technologies. General Atomic GA was founded on July 18 1955 in San Diego California by Frederic de Hoffmann with assistance from notable physicists Edward Teller and Freeman Dyson. Originally the company was part of the General Atomic division of General Dynamics "for harnessing the power of nuclear technologies for the benefit of mankind".<br/> In 1956 San Diego voters approved the transfer of land to GA for permanent facilities in Torrey Pines and the John Jay Hopkins Laboratory for Pure and Applied Science was formally dedicated there on June 25 1959. The Torrey Pines facility continues to serve as the company's headquarters. General Atomic's initial projects were the TRIGA nuclear research reactor which was designed so that it was guaranteed to be safe by the laws of nature and Project Orion. The second part is devoted to a research paper by the GCC Secretary General concerning the role of the GCC in the achievement of Arab unity.
