Intérieur comme neuf. Beau papier satiné de qualité. Quelques infimes plis marqués aux coiffes. Édition originale. Il a été tiré en outre 350 exemplaires sur papier couché. Véritable bible du pêcheur de la truite à la mouche et au lancer léger, ce monumental ouvrage est l'oeuvre d'un pur passionné. Tout y est méticuleusement et précisément présenté : matériel, techniques, sensations, même l'écologie est largement présente dans ce superbe volume très recherché des collectionneurs-pêcheurs. C'est avec La Truite d'A. Vavon (1926), l'autre livre indispensable et incontournable qui doit être présent dans toute bibliothèque halieutique. Ouvrage riche de 52 illustrations hors-texte dont 34 planches photographiques en noir et 2 planches couleurs présentant des mouches artificielles, avec de très nombreuses figures techniques. Ce volume, relié sur un exemplaire broché à l'état de neuf, possède son premier plat de couverture (le seul illustré) en parfait état, ce qui est notablement rarissime pour cet ouvrage. Il n'est pas rare de trouver cet ouvrage dans un état médiocre ou passable, dans un superbe état de fraîcheur tel qu'ici c'est une autre histoire ... Superbe exemplaire resté très frais dans sa reliure éditeur pleine toile décorée.

1917List1730Chicago: Poole Brothers 1917. Folding map measuring 38 ½ x 26 ¾ inches. Tape repairs to verso some tears at folds and edges still bring and attractive good to very good overall with excellent restoration potential. A map of the canneries in Alaska British Columbia and Washington operated by the Deming and Gould Company who were influential in the growth of the Alaskan salmon trade. The map’s date of printing 1917 suggests that perhaps it was related to the war effort as salmon demand increased during this period. The Demings based in Chicago were influential in the growth of the salmon trade in Alaska and the Pacific Northwest founding Pacific American Fisheries Inc. in 1899 and continuing in various iterations until their sale of the firm in 1934 due to president E.B. Deming’s ailing health. The map shows seventeen different canneries several on the Alaska peninsula and the one in Bellingham. We find no record of this imprint only a later and small version held at the University of Washington. Poole Brothers unknown

Nostalgic privately produced memoir of angling in the Thames Valley a century ago. Chapman was a Reading tobacconist and a keen fisher and he recounts his experiences fishing on private lakes ponds and local rivers including the Kennet and Thames as well as misadventures in boats dense fogs notable catches of Pike and Thames trout and an incident of river pollution.<br/>The other copy we have seen varies slightly in the pagination and does not include the two photographs of sea fishing off the Cornwall coast.<br/>Curious interesting and uncommon. privately printed unknown books
