Light uneven toning some fraying to margins as can be expected else a Very Good or better fresh example.<br /> <br /> Possibly unrecorded display broadside listing fishing infractions and their accompanying fines. Sea bass and lobster are the most carefully monitored especially "egg bearing" lobsters "taken for private use" $5 fine and lobsters "taking sic by non-licensed men" $20 fine. The bottom edge of the broadside concludes with the rules pertaining to fresh water fish should not be "taken in any other manner except with single hand lines with not over 2 hooks upon each". As for ice fishing "During the open season when fishing through ice a person may operate 10 lines with a single hook upon each."<br /> <br /> None in commerce or OCLC as of January 2025. s.i. unknown

1917List1730Chicago: Poole Brothers 1917. Folding map measuring 38 ½ x 26 ¾ inches. Tape repairs to verso some tears at folds and edges still bring and attractive good to very good overall with excellent restoration potential. A map of the canneries in Alaska British Columbia and Washington operated by the Deming and Gould Company who were influential in the growth of the Alaskan salmon trade. The map’s date of printing 1917 suggests that perhaps it was related to the war effort as salmon demand increased during this period. The Demings based in Chicago were influential in the growth of the salmon trade in Alaska and the Pacific Northwest founding Pacific American Fisheries Inc. in 1899 and continuing in various iterations until their sale of the firm in 1934 due to president E.B. Deming’s ailing health. The map shows seventeen different canneries several on the Alaska peninsula and the one in Bellingham. We find no record of this imprint only a later and small version held at the University of Washington. Poole Brothers unknown

23913Westley’s letter dated 17 June 1935; on his letterhead ‘City of London Piscatorial Society. / Headquarters: “Crown & Cushion†73 London Wall E.C.2.’ Printed programme for 1935-36; application form same address as letterhead from 1930s. A nice slice of London ephemera. The three items are in good condition lightly aged. They were clearly all sent together. ONE: ALS from Westley ‘W. Westley Hon. Sec.’ to unnamed recipient. 2pp 12mo. In answer to an application he is sending ‘one New Programme showing Waters &c’ pointing out that not all are ‘Trout Waters’ and that ‘about 30% of the Members only take part in competitions’. He explains that they have had good he mistakenly writes ‘few’ membership over the previous two years ‘but at the present time there are a few members’. TWO: Printed ‘C.L.P.S. / Programme 1935-36’. 10pp 16mo. Attractive little item in grey cloth covers with title printed in black on front. In good condition apart from rusty staples. Lists committee and officers fishing waters outings and meetings for season 1935-36 including sea outings regulations governing fresh water competitions prizes for 1935-6 perpetual challenge cups fish general notices. THREE: Printed ‘Application for Membership’. Not filled in. 1p 12mo. Disegnato da Umberto Tirelli raffigura Ugo Lenzi intento a pescare lungo il Reno seduto sull'angolo superiore della squadra massonica; nel retino al suo fianco un unico grosso pesce il tincone tutto attorno a lui nell'acqua tanti pesci sbeffeggiano il pescatore e l'esca da lui usata un sole sullo sfondo il panorama di Bologna. Umberto Tirelli Modena 1871 - Bologna 1954 fu caricaturista e disegnatore collaborò con numerosi giornali a carattere satirico come Il Duca Borso La Secchia Il Fittone Il Giornale delle beffe . e altri. Nel 1923 inaugurò a Bologna il suo "Teatro Nazionale delle Teste di Legno". Le teste erano a grandezza naturale costruite in cartapesta e con caratteri somatici caricaturali. A questa esperienza del disegnatore fa ripensare la grossa testa del pesce che Ugo Lenzi ha preso l'esca a forma di sole potrebbe riportare al periodo della scelta fatta dall'avvocato bolognese quando il Partito Socialista stabilì l'incompatibilità degli iscritti con la Massoneria. Sembrerebbe quindi di poter datare questo manifesto attorno agli anni '20 del XX secolo. Piccoli strappetti ai margini e una vecchia ripresa al retro ma ottimo esemplare con solo alcune righe del testo leggermente ingiallite s.l. (Bologna) unknown
