Il volume raccoglie 12 racconti di Francis dedicati alla pesca e alla caccia, magnificamente illustrati dai disegni di Alfred Cooper, incisi da Edmund Evans. Ogni testo è introdotto da una tavola, con una grande testata e un finalino che raffigurano scene relative a: “Partridge shooting - Punt fishing - Woodcock shooting - Trout fishing - Pheasant shooting - Pike fishing - Rabbit shooting - Roach fishing - Grouse shooting - Salmon fishing - Snipe shooting - Grayling fishing”. Inoltre, ogni racconto è ornato da una bellissima grande iniziale decorata. Così si esprime l’Autore sull’artista Cooper: “his drawings are most of them Sketches from Nature, and many of the figures are Portraits of well-known persons”. Solo verso e recto dei risg. e pag. bianca che segue sono assai fioriti, altrimenti esemplare molto ben conservato, con due preziosi ex libris nobiliari.
