Convocato all'ultimo minuto, è lì a giocarsi la medaglia d'oro dei pesi piuma. Il mondo assiste al miliardesimo ko della storia del pugilato, ma anche agli occhi più attenti sfugge il pugno che dopo 1 minuto e 41 secondi manda al tappeto Daniel Dumitrescu. Il pugno non si vede, sembra un'illusione, neanche a riguardarlo al rallentatore si capisce da dove parte. Quel pugno parte da molto lontano. Giovanni Parisi nasce a Vibo Valentia nel 1967, a tre anni si trasferisce con la famiglia a Voghera. Un'infanzia faticosa, segnata dalla povertà e da un padre assente. La madre cresce i tre figli insegnando loro la dignità e la determinazione, due doti che serviranno molto a Giovanni. La sua strada sarà il pugilato, sudore, fatica, pugni presi e dati per arrivare al traguardo: il successo sportivo e la serenità di una famiglia, con la moglie Silvia e tre figli. Caparbio, forte, coraggioso Parisi credeva di essere invincibile, ma l'avversario che lo ha sconfitto è stato un incidente d'auto, nel marzo del 2009. Bastava qualcuno che gli instillasse un grammo di speranza in corpo e sarebbe arrivato sulla luna. A vent'anni diventa il più giovane campione del mondo dei pesi massimi, una furia nera che incute paura sia dentro che fuori dal ring. Ma il successo è un cavallo imbizzarrito, che bisogna saper domare, altrimenti ti disarciona. E non sempre è facile se le sirene del passato ti chiamano, e l'uomo che ti ha insegnato tutto ti lascia solo troppo presto a cavalcare la belva che lui stesso ha alimentato. La stessa che ti rende imbattibile sul ring, e ingestibile fuori. Vittorie, soldi, fallimenti, donne, alcol, violenza, prigione, droga entrano ed escono dalla sua vita come un vortice.
