Tutto nasce da un fatto di cronaca che ha cambiato la storia degli Stati Uniti: il macabro omicidio di Emmett Till, l'adolescente afroamericano massacrato il 28 agosto 1955 nella cittadina di Money, Mississippi, per aver osato importunare una donna bianca. Cassius ha quasi la stessa età della vittima e ancora non sa che un giorno diventerà Muhammad Ali, "The Greatest", ma sarà proprio l'immagine scioccante di quel volto sfigurato - pubblicata su tutti i giornali del paese - a trasformare un ragazzino di Louisville nel più straordinario dei combattenti.
