Pages are otherwise clean and unmarked. In December of 1971 the 37th Annual Heisman Memorial Trophy Award was presented to Auburn University's Pat Sullivan "The Touchdown Machine." Sullivan was chosen as the outstanding college football player in the United States for 1971. This January 1972 issue features an article about that presentation and 24 photos from the ceremony. Among the photos are several of Pat Sullivan a number of actor John Wayne "The Duke" and previous Heisman winners including Elroy 'Crazy Legs' Hirsch Jim Plunkett Dick Kazmaier Pete Dawkins and Larry Kelley. Bound in the original pictorial pale blue wraps. This copy is from the collection of Ronald Cobleigh past President of the Downtown Athletic Club - sponsor of the Heisman Memorial Trophy. He previously served as secretary of both the American Football Coaches Association and the Atlantic Coast Sports Writers Association before being inducted into the Duke University and North Carolina Halls of Fame. Herbert was also a past president of the U.S. Football Writers Association. Craig Morton born February 5 1943 was quarterback for the Dallas Cowboys New York Giants and Denver Broncos. He was selected fifth overall by the Cowboys in the 1965 NFL Draft. In 1969 he became the starter at quarterback over Roger Staubach. He led the Cowboys to Super Bowl V where the team lost 16-13 to the Baltimore Colts. After 3 lackluster seasons with the Giants Morton was traded to the Denver Broncos in 1977. At age 34 Morton revived his career with the Broncos finishing the season as the second rated passer in the AFC.
