RUSSO Ferdinando. Il poeta che con i suoi versi più si avvicinò all'animo del popolo napoletano. 1868-1927. Corrispondenza autografa firmata, circa cinquanta pagine, tra lettere e cartoline postali, compresa tra il Maggio 1914 ed il 1925, alcune senza data diretta a Angelo Flavio Guidi, giornalista e scrittore, a lungo collaboratore di Vela Latina ed Epoca. E' compresa anche una poesia: "Mò cà luntana stai". Un interessante spaccato questo carteggio sulla vita e l'opera di Ferdinando Russo che da direttore di Vela Latina accetta di buon grado l'offerta di collaborazione del giovane Guidi cui è prodigo di suggerimenti giornalistici e complimenti per i vari articoli con qualche espressione d'augurio di gloria e vittorie per il giovane sottotenente in zona di guerra. Il 2 Luglio 1919 ".ho saputo per caso che siete redattore di Epoca. Posso mandarvi i miei libri ?". Inizia così una lunga e fattiva collaborazione con Epoca e molte sono le questioni attraenti. Dalle lamentele per ritardi amministrativi, alle proteste per i tagli subiti da i suoi articoli. Un breve accenno a Giovanni Verga ".il nostro grande dimenticato.". Un ringraziamento a Benedetto Croce per la sistemazione della Biblioteca e del Museo di Napoli del quale ".io sono ispettore.". Un insieme assai interessante per una valutazione dell'opera di Ferdinando Russo.

Interni complessivamente molto ben conservati con qualche piccola lieve brunitura ad alcune pagine, margine est. della tavola IV con una braghetta di rinforzo applicata al retro (vedi foto). Grandiosa opera dell’architetto navale britannnico Dixon Kemp (1839-1899) - giunta alla decima edizione - che tratta: American and English yacht designs, equipment and rigs, including canoes. Così precisa il curatore “I have endeavoured in the present edition to give a description of the best contemporary types of yachts and boats, their construction, gear, and the manner aof sailing, irrespective of their age. Some of the designs which appear are therefore far older than the first edition of this book (1878), whilst others are of the most modern kind”. Una piccola bruciatura al margine esterno bianco di 25 carte, lontano dal testo ed inifluente e nel complesso esemplare in buone condizioni di conservazione. Bell’incisione con immagine navale al frontespizio e bussola incisa a piena pagina a pagina 93 “"Figura della Bussola, con li Rombi, che ogni Vento, mezzo Vento e quarto vengogo a formare con la linea Meridiana". Seconda edizione, riveduta e corretta di questo importante trattato composto da Edgecombe Thomas che descrive il metodo per orientarsi in alto mare con tavole numeriche dedicate a “la differenza di latitudine e l’allontanamento per li romb i, mezzi rombi e quarti sino a 300 miglia, o leghe di distanza”, la tavola “che contiene le parti meridionali per ogni grado e minuto”, la tavola “delle latitudini e longitudini de’ principali porti, ed isole del mondo, “tavola che contiene la declinazione del sole”, “tavole delle altitudini del sole”, “Tavola dell’Asciensione retta, e la Declinazione di alcune delle Stelle più Insigni”. With the armorial bookplate of Julius Arthur Sheffield Neave on front free endpapers. A splendid facsimile reissue of the greatest work on clipper ships, originally published between 1927 and 1936 and dedicated to the Company of Master Mariners. The first two volumes were edited by Hook; the third by Alexander Campbell following Hook's death. The artist Jack Spurling died in May 1936 aged 62; the painting of the Selkirkshire, left unfinished, was completed by Montagu Dawson as an act of friendship.
