Ma quella che doveva essere, se non una routine, quanto meno un'esperienza conosciuta e già vissuta, si trasforma in breve in avventura. A causa del rischio disalberamento proprio quando Cattysark è in testa alla regata, ma anche quando l'equipaggio scoprirà che, essendo nel frattempo esplosa la pandemia, il cargo che doveva riportare la barca in Italia annulla il contratto. Non resta che tornare ai Caraibi, risalire a bordo e riattraversare l'Atlantico a vela, ma questa volta contro i venti contrari. Avversità che in realtà permetteranno di sperimentare ancora una volta la bellezza e il senso stesso di navigare a vela.
