Vg/vg near fine. not price-clipped. no inscriptions. First edition. A look back over the first 100 years of the Ashes. The fight for the Ashes is a continuing thread in the story of cricket. It is part of the historic saga of Anglo-Australian rivalry in the game. With this rivalry some of the greatest names in the history of cricket have been associated. The author brilliantly evoke the early years - the atmosphere surrounding the game at the end of the nineteenth century. The charisma of W.G.Grace and F.R.Spofforth predominate. Thereafter appear such cricketing heroes as Trumper, Hobbs, Sutcliffe, Bradman, Hammond, O'Reilly, Miller, Lindwall, Hutton and Compton. Most recently the story centres on Dennis Lillee and Ian Botham. Special interest must centre on the account of Ray Illingworth's 1970-71 tour
