ill., br. Sergio Tagliapietra Ciaci è uno dei sei "Re del remo" incoronati nel Novecento ed è considerato il più grande regatante di quel secolo e forse di sempre. Nato a Burano nel 1935, debuttò diciottenne tra i campioni della voga vincendo subito la Regata di Murano su gondole a un remo. Ha corso la sua ultima Regata Storica nel 1991, a 56 anni, ma è sempre nei cuori degli appassionati, per l'esemplare sportività e la grande simpatia. Ciaci, come preferisce essere chiamato, è un campione del remo eclettico, che ha vinto con tutte le barche della voga alla veneta, con il galeone delle Repubbliche Marinare e con le barche del canottaggio. È stato infatti anche olimpionico con l'Otto a Melbourne nel 1956 e a Tokio nel 1964, meritandosi tutte e due le volte la finale. Adesso si dedica ai giovani, cercando di trasmettere loro la sua enorme passione per il remo e la sua altrettanto grande voglia di vincere, di non accontentarsi mai. Questo libro racconta la sua storia di uomo e di vogatore, ritraendo al contempo un ambiente - la laguna - e un mondo - quello della voga alla veneta - di grande fascino e di profonda tradizione culturale.
