This copy has the upper board plain rather than gilt-blocked. Comprises selections from Volume I-V of the Alpine Journal. Neate 22.

The author was a contemporary of the Abraham brothers with whom he climbed occasionally. He was also one of those who made the first ascent of the Ben Nuis Chimney on Arran in 1901.
