Issued in conjunction with the exhibition, which was held at the Library of The Jewish Theological Seminary of America, this collection details the foundations and tropes of postcards detailing Jewish life, celebrations, and institutions from the late 19th through the early 20th century. With the focus on Ashkenazic and Sephardic Jewry, Rosh Ha-Shanah, Jews in the first world war, and a comprehensive collection of postcards of synagogues from around the world. These postcards supply a panoramic view of Jewish daily life, both religious and secular, in the period preceding the devastation of European Jewry. Original Mail Envelope. 9.5 x 14 cm. Russian and English. Envelope (internal letter absent) addressed to Henrietta Szold of the Jewish Agency Aliyah Bureau, sent from Tashkent (Tachkent) , U. S. S. R. Registered in Jerusalem 15th July, 1944. Contains Russian and English registered mail stamps, as well as Russian censor pass (pasted over side of letter after opening and inspection) . Szold was the Head of the Youth Aliyah and founder of Hadassah. Subjects: Henrietta Szold Youth Aliyah Tashkent USSR Jewish Refugees World War II. Ephemera Henrietta Szold Jewish Agency, Aliyah Bureau. Enveloped soiled, torn at edge where opened, otherwise fresh. Good condition. (WOMEN-1-15)

Copertina grafica in blu con fregio stile floreale al semestre 1923, mentre il 1924 ha copertina anteriore pubblicitaria (ad ex. "macchina da scrivere Hesperia") anche illustrata a colori; notevole per inventiva grafica quella a colori di Vsevolode Nicouline per l'Agenzia Filatelica Lombarda "U. Fagiuoli & Figlio" di Milano). Il pittore russo realizza anche leggiadre vignette in b.n. ed illustrazioni a colori a p. pagina all'interno dei fascicoli. Vari argomenti d'interesse filatelico (Congressi, Concorsi, Navigazione e posta aerea, Francobolli esteri, il servizio postale pontificio, igiene e filatelia, ecc. corredati da riproduzioni). I fratelli Guido e Guglielmo Oliva, con negozio in Salita S. Matteo a Genova nel 1921, rilevarono la Rivista da Gino Soncini nel 1923 e si trasferirono in Salita S. Caterina; dopo la IIa guerra mondiale si divisero, e Guido continuò l'attività mentre Guglielmo si dedicò al mestiere di perito. Ottime condizioni.
