Published by Longmans Green and Co. in 1948 three years following the Second World War.In the publisher's original green cloth with numerous in-text illustrations including maps tables and graphs.Most famous for his Land Utilisation Survey of Britain carried out between 1931-1934 the first comprehensive survey of Britain since the iconic Domesday Book this book compiles both the findings as well as analysis and evaluation of the land distribution within rural Britain. Stamp is now known as one of the most eminent geographers in 20th century Britain. In the publisher's original green cloth. Externally very smart with a couple of small marks. Very minor fading to spine and board extremities. End papers are bright and clean with the faint odd spot. Internally firmly bound. Pages are bright and clean with minimal age toning.
