Joan of Arc has inspired many people though the ages through her own inspiration by angel voices that she a young country girl was capable of great achievements commanding her to lead the disheartened Army of France to victory over the invading and much superior forces of England. Because of her independent religious zeal however and despite having successfully carried out her mission she was brought before the Holy Inquisition found guilty of heresy and burned at the stake in front of Rheims Cathedral. This play captures the intense drama of the powerful aura of that short but powerful life. The shock waves of that episode in history has captured the imagination of many writers historians clerics lawyers and most of all people from meager beginnings who pursue their dreams. 196083376Chesières-sur-Ollon Chesières-sur-Ollon 1960. Fine. Chesières-sur-Ollon Chesières-sur-Ollon s. d. circa 1960 21 x 29.50 cm une feuille Autograph letter signed by Jean Anouilh addressed to the Provençal writer caricaturist and filmmaker Carlo Rim who was notably the friend of Fernandel Raimu and Marcel Pagnol but also of André Salmon and Max Jacob 37 lines in blue ink from his chalet in Chesières-sur-Ollon in Switzerland. Two letters and one word having smudged: the ""C"" of dear Carlo Rim the ""L'"" of the intermission and just above the word ""avec"" Jean Anouilh warmly thanks Carlo Rim who intervened in favor of his son-in-law Alain Tesler so that he would join the staff of the Marseillais filmmaker. He nevertheless recommends not to spare him a way for Jean Anouilh to exorcise his thorny role as father-in-law: ""Les Ecovets Chesières-sur-Ollon Dear Carlo Rim thank you for your kindness. I am sure that you will be pleased with him and the best service you can render him him and me is to keep him busy hard word underlined. It's because of the ""loafer"" side of second assistant directors that I advised him against this phantom position he has already occupied. He illegible word well to direct but I maintain that it's as if one wanted to become a pretty woman and be kept and it's me who pushes him toward production with the worried feeling for the future of a Labiche father-in-law which I took on with a jacket on the wedding day. Dear Carlo Rim if you have a daughter make her a nun the role of father-in-law makes one stupid. Most affectionately yours. Thanks again and see you soon I'm struggling here with a damn play and don't dare return before the intermission for fear of being cut off forever. We will fictitiously decorate Barsacq.
