This copy signed by Betjeman twice once on the front free endpaper alongside a note of his correction and again at the base of his contribution on page 26 this leaf also exhibits a single minor correction in his hand. 8vo. viii 40pp. Paper-covered boards with a tanned and lightly chipped paper spine label. The boards rubbed at the corner tips and extremities and a little blemished in places. Some spotting throughout mostly confined to the margins and one text leaf detached and laid-in. Tiny dealer plate to the base of the front pastedown above which is a contemporary former owner name and date. A good copy most uncommon with Betjeman's signature. No dust wrapper almost certainly as issued. Betjeman contributes his poem 'The Song of a Cold Wind' which was originally printed anonymously in 'The Marlburian' a year earlier and here marks the poet's very first appearance in bookform. First Printing of the First Edition. A Fine tight unread copy in a Very Good plus example of the uncommon dust jacket with foxing to spine. This is one of only 500 copies issued. The Loujon Press was an avant-garde publisher operating during the 1960s in New Orleans. Combining art prose and poetry and using a labor-intensive old-fashioned letter press Jon and Louise "Gypsy Lou" Webb published the now-famous literary journal The Outsider as well as books. The Outsider was a critical success almost from the very start making a remarkable impact in the literary landscape of the twentieth century and helping to usher in a whole new style and energy of modern writing. A very good copy in a splendidly preserved example of the uncommon pictorial dust wrapper designed by Rex Whistler non-price-clipped and just lightly spotted at the rear panel with a touch of toning to the spine panel.
