Extra illustrations are mostly mounted steel engraved plates by Thomas Williams. There are 26 of these additional plates each has a tissue guard all but the frontis portrait of the author with a short printed caption describing what the illustration is depicting. Full leather. Stamped gilt decoration and titling. Ex-library Royal Yacht Squadron copy with consequent labels annotations wear marks. The boards and spine are much worn scuffed marked rubbed all about from age handling. They retain a faded but determined grandeur such as with an irrevocably impoverished marquess. The paper trims are gilded thick and agleam. The contents are aged. There are age-marks blotches and splodges smears and rubbings of foxing throughout. Nonetheless the pages are thick confident certain clear and convivial amiable companionable competent comfortable often fresh-faced and keen.
