Dante Alighieri was an Italian poet writer and philosopher who wrote what is widely considered the most important work of Italian literature and one of the greatest works of world literature 'Divine Comedy.' His implementation of language and vernacular in literature was instrumental in establishing modern-day standardized Italian and in bringing Italian to the forefront of literary language in western Europe for several centuries. Loosely inserted is a publisher's large-format bookmark for want of a better word with some self-promotional text printed on it: 'Mr. Richard Aldington's translation of the Decameron of Giovanni Boccaccio is now issued for the first time. It is an eminently satisfying translation. As poet prose writer critic and scholar Mr. Aldington needs no introduction; who could one think of better fitted for translating "The Decameron"'. 2 items.
