1999159614Kingston ON: Blake McKendry 1999. Softcover. Very good. xii 297 p. 28 cm. 208 b&w illustrations. Light soiling to white covers. Signed by author on title page.

In the mid-1950s Blake and Ruth McKendry became interested in art rare books and antiques both as sellers and collectors. During this period at a time when Canadas decorative arts were only beginning to be appreciated the McKendrys operated The Pioneer Shop in Ottawa. They started their business at a time when Canadians were less interested in collecting their own material culture. Since then we appear to have awakened to the values associated with past generations and that awareness to a large extent is due to the pioneering spirit of collectors and dealers like the author.
