The English Picture Publishing Company was formed by Pre-Raphaelites Charles Rowley George Milner and Frederic Shields " It was all done under Madox Brown's influence we lost half our cash but we spread some fine things the like of which was not on the market." They set about to publish photographic reproductions of the work of contemporary and earlier British artists. The company became the Fine Art Autotype Company. The company operated out of Manchester. Any prints by this company are scarce. Some have found their way into prestigious collections e.g. The British Museum & The Wellcome Library. There is no mention of these prints on the net. They are 15" by 22" though the actual images are 6".5 by 8.5". They are autotypes which is a photographic process and began in 1868. "The mourners" "Eve's Dream" "Comus. Edward Blake was the second Premier of Ontario from 1871 to 1872 and leader of the Liberal Party of Canada from 1880 to 1887. He played a major role in exposing the complicity of the government of Sir John A. Macdonald in the Pacific Scandal forcing the government's resignation. The three speeches in this booklet are typical of Burke's style lengthy and caustic. unknown

Blake wrote these aphorisms in 1788 and printed them in the 1790s shortly after his invention of "illuminated printing". This edition was published the same year as William Muir's facsimile; no priority between the two editions has been established. Octavo. 12 illustrated plates printed in reddish brown 9 tinted by hand in black 3 in colour all loose as issued. Original blue wrappers printed in black. Early full brown morocco binding by Riviere dark green glazed endpapers backstrip lettered in gilt lower cover rehinged.<br /> <br /> § Large-paper copy privately printed for Pickering in an edition of 50 copies. One of the rarest Blake facsimiles and only in the large-paper edition very well executed the rest were not colored and were printed in a dark brown without highlights. Not in Bentley but Essick notes: "According to Blake Books Supplement page 140 the plates reproduced are the same as those in the Muir facsimile of 1886 apparently from copies A L and perhaps H. However Joseph Viscomi Blake and the Idea of the Book pp. 205 212-13 demonstrates that most of the plates a1 a2 a4 a8 a9 b3 b4 b12 in this Pickering facsimile were based on copy I one of the early "bogus" or facsimile copies now in the Morgan Library.
