The theologian in question is Jaques Boileau. This work complied by Mainbourg. Small ink inscription to the title page. Louis Maimbourg 1610-1686 was a French Jesuit and historian. He was expelled from the Jesuit order by Pope Innocent XI in 1681 due to his public defense of Louis XIV. This work written in French contains his remarks on the historical treatise on the establishment and privileges of the Church of Rome and the bishops. In a full calf binding. Externally sound with rubbing to the boards spine and extremities. Lacking spine label. Small losses to the head of the spine. Internally firmly bound. Pages are bright and clean.
