A bright copy fresh and clean internally bound without the advertisement leaf which is sometimes present. This second edition with notes by Sara Coleridge is greatly expanded from 95 to 289 pages. A fine bright copy finely bound for Asprey in half black morocco. Spine with two raised bands each with gilt piping. Compartments ruled and lettered in gilt. navy blue cloth on boards. Marbled endpapers. All edges gilt. The binding is signed by Aspreys in gilt letters to the bottom of the inside front board. There is no binders signature but this is certainly the work of a master bookbinder very likely Sangorski and Sutcliffe who did a lot of work for the firm. A truly handsome copy of this classic work. There was no UK edition published. Volume designed by Carl Purington Rollins. The text is set in Bell type and printed on a rag paper made by The Worthy Paper Company.
