He was most famous for his verse dramas which often convey his devout Catholicism. Claudel was nominated six times for the Nobel Prize in Literature. Kathleen O'Flaherty was a Professor of French at University College Cork. She was a respected scholar whose writings on Voltaire and Chateaubriand were internationally acknowledged.
