Doris Lessing was a British-Zimbabwean novelist who was awarded the Nobel Prize in Literature in 2007 making her the oldest person to ever receive the award. Lessing is best known for her novels particularly the 1950 work The Grass is Singing. This particular limited edition work is an uncommon collection of her poetical works but contains many of the psychological themes for which her works are so well known. In the original paper wraps. The series follows the life of Martha Quest who starts the series at fifteen years old and lives in poverty on a African farm with her parents. In the publisher's original cloth with the original unclipped dust wrapper. Externally excellent with very minimal fading to the spine and to the head of the rear board slight shelf wear and light offsetting and spotting to the endpapers. The wrap is generally smart with tape re-enforcements to the head and tail a closed tear to the head of the spine slight marks chips to the head of the spine and scattered spotting to the fly leaves and verso.
