Edges heavily scuffed and spines buckled down the middle. On volume 1 the spine is cracked and peeling up from the bottom leaving the boards weakly attached. Owner's small signature on each volume's front endpaper. Foxing throughout each volume. Pages dampstained in volume 1. Front hinge completely cracked in volume 3. Back boards of volume 7 and 8 are bent. Pencil notes in volume 1; other volumes' text unmarked. Binding tight except where previously mentioned. A set of the works of 18th-century German dramatist Gotthold Ephraim Lessing 1729-1781. These volumes contain his HAMBURG DRAMATURGY MINNA OF BARNHELM and a selection of his philosophical and theological works including ERNST AND FALK and ANTI-GOEZE among others.
