She is best known for her novel Gigi upon which the stage and film musical comedies by Lerner & Loewe of the same title were based. Image 1 - April 20th 1953 on the occasion of receiving the award of Grand Officier de la Legion d'Honnour. Colette was the first woman in history to be so honoured.
