Carl Maria Kaufmann 1872 -1951 German clergy archaeologist and writer. Kaufmann donated approximately 1200 terracotta objects from Abu Mina and the Fayum to what is now the Liebieghaus. About 100 items from this donation were transferred in 1927 to the Museum für Byzantinische Kunst.
