These letters were collected by an emissary of Akiva Yosef Schlesinger in the 1870s amongst a year long journey from Palestine to Vienna (to garner financial support from Baron Rothschild) , visiting local Jewish communities and obtaining the legal opinion and written support of the local community Rabbis in Turkey, Hungary, Galicia, and Rumania along the way. These letters of endorsement for the project of setting up Jewish agricultural villages forms the basis of this album of facsimile letters; includes detailed historical biographies of the Rabbis and the communities visited of the time.
