The State Trust of the All-Union Economic Council of National Economy "Poligraf" existed since 1924 and produced movable types. They also produced printing inks. In this sample book they are divided by the techniques they were intended for: movable-type printing lithography offset lithography mezzotint. The samples are on different kinds of papers to show the differences for printing. At the end is an overview of complementary mixtures and drying oils including fatty printing pastes to increase the capacity of printed forms. One of 300 copies only. Appears this was a X-Library book at some point and there is still a card pocket in the back with the removable card inserted still!. Binding is quite shaken and there is a spine lean. The book is a bit fragile to handle but for a 82 year old first printing that was used as a library book at some point it's held up rather well. Glossy frontispiece intact but some webbing starting to show on the binding there webbing also showing some on the back blank endpaper. Pages have a few soiled spots but overall very clean. Back of the book has 5 pages of advertisements including 29 Tom Swifts 7 Don Sturdys 10 Radio Boys tiTLes 5 Garry Graysons and 5 Western Stories for Boys titles. Also the letter 't' in "talking" on page 31 line 12 is complete. A tough tough book to locate and a cool part of Hardy history since it's the very first printing of the first title in the series. Dedicated to Tetsuo Yamada. Poetry by Sid Corman accompanied by ten full page ink washes by Hidetaka Ohno rendered here in collotype. The book has been handset in Garamond and Century Old Italics. The Collotype plates were printed by the Kuroyama Photo-Engraving Co. in Kyoto Japan. Sid Sidney Corman 1924–2004 was an American poet and editor. In 1951 he founded the poetry magazine Origin providing a platform for the work of poets like Charles Olson Robert Creely Theodore Enslin and others. His change in name form Sidney to Cid signaled his becoming a poet for the common man. His experiments with oral poetry later influenced the "talk-poems" of David Antin a key moment in the emergence of performance poetry. In his capacity as an editor and publisher Corman was associated with the Beats as well as the Black Mountain poets. Origin Press hardcover
