A powerful argument for a contemporary understanding of Jesus. Shows how various myths about Jesus began and challenges readers to hear the gospel in a a fresh way. Argues the historical Jesus was not a "Christian." Book
248 pages including references. Would be graded very good but for two defects; when former owner blacked out his name inside front cover the black ink seeped through and is very visible on front cover. There is an average amount of underlining in the book, primarily in pencil. As to the content of the book, it is much more than a collection of the finest pieces, newly expanded and updated, by one of Canada's best-known commentators on religion. In addition to a lengthy introductory statement of his own beliefs, the former relition editor of The Toronto Star has written a number of short essays on controversial issues specially for this book. Here, Harpur is able to speak more frankly than he could as a journalist. A book not only for church-goers but for all who are concerned with religion and its place in the world. Book

" 'Anne Brigman' fills a gap in the understanding of what photography was about in the decade 1903-1913 when the soft-focus, pictorial approach was commanding attention for the first time. Anne Brigman was in the forefront of this style, and, the only woman from the west to be included in the noted gallery of mader art 291, she led the interest in the bay area. The collection of her work in The Oakland Museum is no doubt the strongest in any museum, and, thanks to the gifts of Mr. and Mrs. Willard Nott, contains many important family letters and mementoes."
