Kent Rockwell. 8vo heavy light brown buckram over boards with front and spine blind stamps. Decorative gilt stamp to front and spine outlining illustrated paste on labels illustrated endpapers. The text block of the book has sagged so there is slight wear to the bottom edge. Out of an abundance of modesty I am grading this book merely VG. Jacket presents well with slight chipping and wear to the spine ends and flap fold edges. There is also minor soiling to the jacket which overall if VG.This gorgeous deluxe reprint edition of the Covici Friede Canterbury Tales is both beautifully bound and illustrated. Don't let the copyright page confuse things - this is published by Garden City. Although not the true first after reviewing online photos of the original I greatly prefer the binding choices for this Garden City edition. Initially created to showcase the ITC typeface library the magazine became a showpiece for creative typography unique graphic design and a wide variety of technical historical and cultural surveys and insights. Contributors included prominent writers artists and designers such as Herb Lubalin; Steven Heller and Seymour Chwast. Approximately 120 issues were published before it ceased publication in 1999. Though these 87 issues are not a complete run many of the annual volumes have all four issues present.
