Folio (440 x 270 mm), title followed by 111 leaves printed on one side only, 7 leaves with small area excised, 1 leaf torn in half with remaining portion loosely inserted, 1 leaf torn across centre, title-page printed with elaborate wood-engraved decorative border, some light fraying to blank margins of several leaves, orig. half calf, re-cased, title stamped in gilt on upper cover, corners rubbed. Figgins had issued specimens as early as 1792, but these were in small pamphlet form. By the 1820s they were issuing specimens in a 8vo book form, these were followed by quarto specimens in the early 1840s. "The Quarto Specimen Book was supplemented in 1847 by the 'Epitome of Specimens,' which contains a selection of antiques, blacks, and jobbing types, with flowers, borders, and ornaments, the book and news founts being shown in small paragraphs."?Bigmore & Wyman. This book was continually added to until 1871, when it became too large and heavy for the post, thereafter the specimens issued by Figgins were issued in a smaller condensed form. An exhibition in the Thomas Fisher Rare Book Library, University of Toronto, 19 April-30 June 1991.This commemoration of Gill's life and work is drawn primarily from a private collection in Toronto formed by J. Kemp Waldie, and also contains items from the Fisher Library and the Library of the University of Waterloo. It illustrates the varied aspects of Gill's career, with special emphasis on his graphic art and book illustration. The catalogue, by Alan Horne, Richard Landon, and Guy Upjohn won a first place award from the Rare Books and Manuscripts Sections of the American Library Association, and two design awards from the National Composition and Prepress Association. Perorazione dei diritti vantati dallo storico gerente della Stamperia Camerale (ebbe la privativa per quarant'anni) in merito a crediti vantati nei confronti dell'amministrazione pontificia per la stampa di opere, l'esecuzione del contratto riguardante l'impiego di direttore di stamperia ecc. I fatti narrati toccano 40 anni di vicende della stamperia tra l'occupazione francese e il 1850, i rapporti con essa della famiglia Salviucci, che divennero stampatori per gli occupanti francesi ecc.

2 volumi in 1 tomo in-8, ff. 264 (su 268, mancando il fascicolo [X] di 4 ff. posto come ultimo fascicolo della prima parte) + 190 n.n., (conservati 5 ff. bianchi), legatura di inizio novecento in vitello con elaborate bordure in oro e fregio centrale che copia "Apollo e Pegaso". Impressi interamente in greco, con ancora aldina al verso dell'ultimo foglio. Il primo foglio contiene il titolo (in greco e in latino) e l'elenco delle tragedie, e, al verso la dedica di Aldo a Demetrio Chalcondylas; gli ultimi 4 ff. del vol.I e gli ultimi 3 del vol.II contengono registro, colophon, privilegio ed áncora. Editio princeps delle opere del grande tragediografo greco (V secolo a.C.) il quale influenzò tutta la produzione tragica latina, cristiana ed italiana, sino a Racine: l'edizione comprende in realtà 18 tragedie, poichè l' "Hercules Furens" fu reperita da Aldo durante l'impressione del secondo volume, e non figura nel titolo; 4 di queste tragedie (Medea, Hippolytus, Alcestis e Andromaca) erano già state pubblicate a Firenze da Alopa verso il 1496. Edizione di grande eleganza, importanza filologica e rarità. Impressa nel piccolo minuscolo corsivo greco, con molti spazi bianchi nell'impaginazione, data la brevità di alcuni versi, è stimata tra le più aggraziate delle edizioni greche di Aldo. Bell'esemplare, purtroppo con mancanza, con alcuni fogli ancora chiusi.. RENOUARD p. 43-44, n.10: "Première et rare édition d"Euripide".
