Nikolai Berdiaev 1874 â 1948 was one of Russia's best known religious philosophers of the late 19th and early 20th centuries and a leading theoretician for the Russian Social Democratic Party. An article of his in 1913 criticising the Holy Synod of the Russian Orthodox Church earned him a charge of blasphemy the punishment for which was exile to Siberia for life. The Revolution prevented the sentence from taking effect and he was allowed to continue writing and lecturing. Though consequently his dissatisfaction with the Bolsheviks' regime got him arrested several times and eventually resulted in his expulsion from Russia in 1922 on the so called "Philosophers' Ship" - a selected group of 160 prominent writers and intellectuals whose ideas the Bolshevik government found objectionable. In exile first in Berlin and later in Paris Berdiaev was editor in chief of the YMCA-Press founder of the above-mentioned Russian Religious Philosophical Academy and editor of the periodical Putâ âThe Wayâ - to which the current pamphlet was published as a supplement. Georgii Fedotov Vladimir Il'in and Sergei Bulgakov were also prominent exiled theologians and philosophers who worked closely with Berdiaev in Paris. Paris: YMCA Press paperback books

When the army holds maneuvers near her home town the factory supervisor organizes a mixer for the largely female workforce and the all-male soldiers. This dance proves a mixed success with many of the soldiers who are middle-aged reservists and many of the factory workers who are inexperienced young women with idealized views of romance being confused by and disappointed with their potential dancing partners. The film's protagonist though does meet an attractive young man who plays in the dance band and has a one-night fling with him. When she travels to the capital city where he lives in order to resume their romance she meets his parents and comes to the realization that there is no future in this relationship.</i>" Wikipedia</p><p>This was Miloš Forman's second feature-length fiction film it was preceded by a few shorts and documentary films and this was the film which brought him significant international recognition.</p> Ceskoslovensky Filmexport; Prominent Films books
