When the army holds maneuvers near her home town the factory supervisor organizes a mixer for the largely female workforce and the all-male soldiers. This dance proves a mixed success with many of the soldiers who are middle-aged reservists and many of the factory workers who are inexperienced young women with idealized views of romance being confused by and disappointed with their potential dancing partners. The film's protagonist though does meet an attractive young man who plays in the dance band and has a one-night fling with him. When she travels to the capital city where he lives in order to resume their romance she meets his parents and comes to the realization that there is no future in this relationship." Wikipedia

This was Miloš Forman's second feature-length fiction film it was preceded by a few shorts and documentary films and this was the film which brought him significant international recognition.
Ceskoslovensky Filmexport; Prominent Films books

Caxton printed an illustrated edition of his own translation in 1483 later reprinted by Wynkyn de Worde. But the English had to turn to copies printed abroad for the original Latin texts; as a result a number of Continental editions with early English provenances are recorded. "Depicting the lives of the saints in an array of factual and fictional stories The Golden Legend was perhaps the most widely read book of its time after the Bible during the late Middle Ages. It was compiled around 1260 by Jacobus de Voragine a scholarly friar and later archbishop of Genoa whose purpose was to captivate encourage and edify the faithful while preserving a vast store of information pertaining to the legends and traditions of the church" Princeton. Even today scholars of the period recognize it as a key Medieval text across fields in the humanities. "Art historians depend on it. Medievalists should know it inside out.For the rest of us it remains a treasure house of European culture crammed full of the things which everyone once upon a time used to know" Malcolm.

BMC I p 135.
