The boards are very shelf rubbed edge worn and marked with a small chip out of the top edge of the spine but they remain strong and sturdy. Internally there is an ex-libris plate under the front board along with a previous owner's inscription and signature on the block of the book. There is tanning around the edges throughout but there are no other markings or inscriptions and the pages within are neat and complete. Giddy was the Civil Commissioner in Kimberley and he sent the first telegraph from Kimberley in 1876. The book has been fully rebound in recent red leather. Internally there is light tanning throughout but there are no other markings or inscriptions and the pages within are neat crisp and complete.
