Extracted from MR Rollins Roman History produced by d Anville and completed by MR Crevier. Title cartouche in lower right segment of chart. d Anville was a noted French cartographer born in 1697 and active since the age of 15. He provided many of the charts for Rollins historical volumes and was emulated by many future cartographers. This excerpt provides an exceptional example of his geographic accuracy and attention to detail. Slight discoloration. Left border is cut short along top. Two vertical creases. Lines remain crisp and clean. Text is easily legible. A superior map in very good condition. Paris: Charles Rollin unknown

Each volume has previous owner's book plate on front pastedown with the signature "W. Jackson." No artist attribution to the book plate; it has a revolutionary theme showing the word "independence" 13 stars and the motto "Meliora non opto" I do not wish for better things.
