SIGNED in French by William Close and his wife Tina on the half-title page. Their dedication says: "Tu ma vue [sic], puis tu a acheté ce livre !!! à un type magnifique, avec l'espérance qu'on se verra encore. Bill Close et sa petite femme Tina Close" (translation: "You saw me, then you bought this book!!! To an awesome guy, I hope we will meet again. Bill Close and his cute wife Tina"). Inscription from 1944 written on the title page. Contents list at the beginning. Introduction, Preface and eight chapters, the eighth being the most famous for some idea which would get out of the Overton window. "William Taliaferro Close (June 7, 1924 – January 15, 2009) was an American surgeon who played a major role in stemming a 1976 outbreak of the Ebola virus in Zaire, the first major outbreak of the viral hemorrhagic fever in Central Africa, and preventing its further spread. He was also the father of Oscar-nominated actress Glenn Close and husband of Bettine Moore Close." (Wikipedia) Dr. Close's efforts proved instrumental in breaking the chain of transmission of the Ebola virus during a pandemic, saving thousands of lives, and investigated the progress of the AIDS pandemic soon after. Close wrote four books, which included chronicles of his experiences as a doctor in Zaire and Wyoming.

This is a rare copy of the war edition which, due to war restrictions, contains less paper than usual and shows the "Authorized Economy Standard" seal of approval on the first page. "In May 1940, Lord Northbourne’s book ‘Look to the Land’ appeared. He coined the term ‘organic farming’. His book stripped out the prolixity, abstruseness, esotericism and mysticism of Rudolf Steiner, and, with compelling clarity, Lord Northbourne presented a manifesto of organic agriculture. He translated to English several works by Perennialists or Traditionalists René Guénon, Fritschof Schuon and Titus Burckhardt, and contributed frequently to the quarterly journal Studies in Comparative Religions. According to Wikipedia, "Lord Northbourne's garden at Elizabethan Northbourne Court near Deal in Kent, set within the standing former outbuildings (the manor house burned in the 18th century) and upon ancient terracing, nurtured for a century, is reputed one of the finest in England; it is not generally open to the public."

In black and white, contains photos of 54 ex-votos as well as other photographs. Texts by Fatima Bercht, photos by Glenn Steigelman and Giovanna and Francesco Del Brenna. Enriched with a letter in Portuguese signed by the gallery owner Alfred Kren, who asks a Brazilian bookseller about the viability of a sale of several copies of this brochure in Brazil. While Kren expresses doubts, fearing that the retail price in the United States will turn into "an exorbitant amount of Brazilian cruzeiros" once the booklets get exported, he likes the idea enough to send this copy as a gift to the recipient of the letter.

Edges show very tiny dots, a little foxing on the first pages near the spine, bottom of the DJ lightly crumpled, margins slightly yellowed. Binding is in very good shape, paper clean, DJ is crisp and well protected beneath its original mylar.
