The glue in this perfect bound book is over 50 years old and is likely fragile. 161 pages, b&w full page drawings throughout depicting every day life, contents include: Life of humility, of labor, of service, of meditation, etc.
In 16° (18x12 cm); 84 (30), pp. Bella legatura in tutto cartoncino dorato con motivi a rilievo. Inottime stato di conservazione. Tagli gialli. Edizione del "Diario Sacro Modenese", estremamente rara, non censito in ICCU per l'anno 1838. L'opera è di grande importanza per ricostruire la storia locale modenese dell'ottocento contenendo notizie e nozioni sulle festività locali. Mese per mese e giorno per giorno sono indicate le feste dei vari santi con una breve descrizione della vita degli stessi. Seguono poi: Feste Mobili, Benedizioni Papali per l'Anno, Giorni ne' quali s'aprono i tribunali; Divisione dei Dipartimenti; Fiere dello Stato di Modena; Arrivi e partenze de corrieri, ordinari della Ducale Posta di Modena. In ottimo stato di conservazione ed in bella e curiosa legatura coeva. Molto raro.

Bogatzky (1690-1774) was a famed Pietist and is considered one of the outstanding hymn writers of Continental Protestantism. Disowned by his father for refusing to serve in the army, he devoted himself to the study of theology at Halle, where Francke, Anton, Freylinghausen, and other Pietists greatly influenced him. While at Halle he began, for his own edification, to develop this work. First published in 1718.
