18915541Paris: Arnold & Trit / Hotel Drouot 1891. First edition. The auction catalogue for the Drouot sale of the collection of Mr Ch. Noel. This was held in the Hotel Drouot on Saturday 21st February 1891. The catalogue features 69 items for sale and there are ten full page photo-aquatint engravings with 11 of the items featured. Original cream soft covers over card with red titles. There is significant darkening to the edges of the covers and some small bumping and nicking. The binding is slightly shaken to the title page but still holding. Pages are a little darkened. The aquatints are in very good clean condition and all under tissue guards these somewhat foxed. Also included is the entry card / invitation to the sale which includes a list of the items going under the hammer. A nice collection of art works. The commmissaire-Priseur was Georges Duchesne and the experts were the Haro brothers. Unpaginated but 30 pages. 33cm x 25cm. Conforms to WorldCat / OCLC: 762566448. . Première édition. Catalogue de la vente aux enchères Drouot de la collection de M. Ch. Noel. Celle-ci s'est tenue à l'Hôtel Drouot le samedi 21 février 1891. Le catalogue présente 69 lots à vendre et comprend dix gravures photogravées en aquatinte pleine page 11 des lots présentés. Couverture souple crème d'origine sur carton avec titres rouges. Les bords de la couverture sont très foncés et présentent quelques petites bosses et entailles. La reliure est légèrement abîmée au niveau de la page de titre mais tient toujours. Les pages sont un peu foncées. Les aquatintes sont en très bon état propres et toutes protégées par des feuilles de papier de soie légèrement rouillées. Le catalogue comprend également la carte d'entrée/invitation à la vente qui contient la liste des articles mis aux enchères. Une belle collection d'œuvres d'art. A letter discussing a meeting The Reverend Baptist Wriothesley Noel 1798-1873 was an English evangelical clergyman of aristocratic family. He was minister of St John's Chapel Bedford Row London from 1827 to 1848 In 1849 he became a Baptist minister and pastor of the nearby John Street Baptist Church in Bloomsbury following the death of the former pastor James Harington Evans. Noel twice served as President of the Baptist Union. A portrait of him hangs outside the library of Regent's Park College Oxford. Size of letter is 190mm x 165mm. Condition is average. In 1827 Noel'S First Lithograph Was Published And He Quit Painting To Work As A Lithographer Creating Over 600 Portraits In A Print Oeuvre Of Over 1000 Images Between 1827 And 1866. His Early Work Was Loose And Painterly But By 1839 It Had Become More Meticulous And Traditional. His Portraits Documented The Royalty And Personalities Of The Time.
