It comprises 'Garden Open Today' 1963 'Forty Favourite Flowers' 1964 and 'Garden Open Tomorrow' 1968. Beverley Nichols' second and best-known trilogy forms a delightful chronicle of the enhancement of his Georgian manor house and gardens at Ashtead in Surrey. It comprises 'Merry Hall' 1951 'Laughter on the Stairs 1953 and 'Sunlight on the Lawn' 1956. An abridged version of the trilogy was issued in a single volume as 'The Gift of a Home' in 1972.
