Undated c 1947. 2 3/4" x 4 3/8". 8-page stapled booklet featuring erotic parody of the Steve Canyon comic strip created by Milton Caniff. The story features Steve and Delta checking into a sleazy motel. Great art style that tries hard to mimic Caniff. A couple of neat 4th wall breaking touches including one panel labeled "The Close-Up" and the final page featuring the couple looking towards the reader and saying "Well what the are you looking at" Tan cover stock. Interior pages printed single-sided. Interior printing mostly sharp but shows some drop-out in the heavy black areas. Cover two-piece. Some corrosion to staple. Very difficult to find originals of these. Size: 16mo very small. Text unmarked. Binding is tight covers and spine fully intact. Slight shelf-wear and bumping to corners. Illustrator: unknown. Die erste Auflage erschien 1903, im Jahr der ersten öffentlichen Ausgabe des Reigen im "Wiener Verlag". Das Interessante ist, dass diese erste gedruckte Parodie zum Reigen nur zwischen Frauen spielt. Wie bei Schnitzler gibt es hier ebenfalls zehn Szenen und den Doppelauftritt der handelnden Personen. Ort der Handlung ist ein Badehaus, mit Szenen im Kabinenraum, im Ruhesaal, im warmen Bassin etc. Allerdings wird der Akt hier nicht physisch vollzogen, sondern spielt sich in der Phantasie der Beteiligten ab.- Die Urheberschaft konnte bis heute nicht geklärt werden.

Both are primarily political satires the product of frustrations about the Boer War and the British government of the time. Begbie went on to support pacifists and conscientious objection to the Great War and put himself out front with a vigorous defense of the reality of the supposed apparition of the Angel of Mons.
