He was born as a watchmaker's son and rose to prominence within the court of Louis XV. He was an early supporter of American Independence and participated in the early stages of the French Revolution. As a writer he is best known for his three 'Figaro' plays.Published by Bibliothèque Nationale de France the noted national library of France which is located in Paris established in 1461.Volume I published in 1878 Volume II published in 1879 Volume III published in 1880 Volume IV published in 1879 Volume V published in 1877.Two pages of adverts to the rear of Volume II. In a half cloth binding with marbled paper to the boards. Externally smart with minor rubbing and some light marks to the boards and spines. Rubbing is heavier to the extremities and to the rear board of Volume I. Very light bumping to the head and tail of the spines. Internally firmly bound. Pages are lightly age-toned and generally clean with scattered spots. Small closed tears and a light tide marks to the first few pages of Volume I. Very Good Bibliotheque Nationale hardcover
