In a full calf binding Externally worn. Front board is held by cords only. Leather is rubbed with some loss to the head and tail of the spine and to the extremities. A little leather to the head of the spine is lifting. Minor bumping to the extremities. Small worm hole to the front joint. Chip to the head of the front endpaper. Internally firmly bound. Around 1696 Fleury's began writing this work with his intention being to write a history of the church for all classes of society. His work ultimately; appealed more to the student rather than to the popular reader dwelling as it does very particularly on questions of doctrine of discipline of supremacy and of rivalry between the priesthood and the imperial power. With the bookplate of Ruben Parsons to the front pastedown the inscription of D. Jordan to a front blank and contemporary inscriptions to the title page. In a full vellum binding and with handwritten title to back strip. Small losses of vellum to back strip head and tail with ink spotting to front board. Lacking front and rear free endpapers.
