First edition of this cheeky and satirical semi-autobiographical memoir by the superstar actress documenting her adventures in an escaped balloon over the L’Exposition Universelle in Paris in 1878 with her lover Clairin 1843-1919 who had painted the famed salon Portrait of Bernhard 1844-1923. Lured back in 1878 to the Comedie Francaise the brilliant star with a chancy temper had been requested by the balloon’s owner to make the maiden voyage ascent but a storm ripped it from its moorings and they eventually landed outside Paris. Subsequently she refused to pay the 100 Francs fine as she had left Paris without permission. Nach Bernhardt wird die spinal-neuritische Form der progressiven Muskelatrophie als BERNHARDTsche Form und die Meralgia paraethetica als BERNHARDTsche bzw.
