A nice association. <br /><br />Also laid in is a typed letter dated Jan. 30 1991 from Uta Hagen to Jane Emerson politely declining to advertise in a Yale Drama program honoring HB Studio's founder Herbert Berghof. <br /><br />Hagen 1919-2004 joined the faculty of HB Studio in 1947 and married Berghof in 1957. She was a well-regarded acting teacher; some of her students included Robert De Niro Faye Dunaway Gene Hackman Whoopi Goldberg Jack Lemmon Jason Robards Fritz Weaver and many others. <br /><br />In this book Hagen deals with the art of acting and how actors can identify with the character they're playing. She also offers exercises for actors and discusses ethical and moral issues that arise in acting. Haskel Frankel the drama critic of the National Observer assisted Hagen in writing the book. <br /><br />Inscribed copies are scarce to the market.
