Illustrated with six monochrome plates. 'La Botaniste Sans Maitre' is Rousseau's exposition of the Linnaeus system of the classification of plants comprising of a selection of letters. This work is Rousseau's 'Letters on the Elements of Botany' under a different title. This edition was continued by Joseph Philippe de Clairville a notable French botanist and entomologist. Jean-Jacques Rousseau is one of the most noted philosophers of his time with his works influencing the progression of the Enlightenment in Europe.
