Unter dem zeitgenössischen Einfluß der katholischen Aufklärung, sowie des josephinischen Staatskirchentums und jansenistischen Gedankenguts versucht er darin, die wissenschaftliche Theologie für die praktische Seelsorge zu nutzen deren Ziele Glückseligkeit, Rechtschaffenheit und Tugendstreben der Gläubigen waren.
