Benjamin Rabier was a renowned French illustrator who created the famous character Gédéon a yellow domestic duck with a notably long neck in 1923. Gédéon is the protagonist of a children's series sharing various adventures that often include animal friends like Roudoudou the rabbit and Alfred the crocodile both of whom feature in this collection. Original blue paper covered hardback with red cloth spine. The binding is in good condition with a little rubbing markingAdverts f and edgewear. Internally clean and tidy with a little darkening to the pages. Adverts for the series to the front and rear of the work. Each of the three works here are 16 pages each. so 48 pages in total. 32cm x 25cm. . Une première édition de trois livres pour enfants reliés en un seul. Le premier ouvrage de la "Collection Gédéon". Benjamin Rabier illustrateur français de renom a créé en 1923 le célèbre personnage de Gédéon un canard domestique jaune au cou particulièrement long. Couverture cartonnée originale en papier bleu dos en tissu rouge. La reliure est en bon état avec quelques frottements marquages et usures sur les bords. L'intérieur est propre et bien rangé avec un léger noircissement des pages. Des publicités pour la série figurent au début et à la fin de l'ouvrage. With a note in pencil on the front flyleaf: "E.A. de Jonckeere" and a dedication dated to 14-08-1914. l Kattendorp is a witty book about a group of cats who decide that they no longer want to live amongst people. They go out into the wild to establish their own cat village. Kattendorp is a Dutch translation of the French book 'Raminagrobis Roman de Chats'. unknown

Numeorus charming illustrations throughout by the author support the text many in colour others are line drawings. The pictures and pages are fresh and bright well preserved. Pictorial hardboards with quarter cloth. Light bumps to two corners and all corners are rubbed. Split of 2 cm to the cloth edge from the head of the spine. Light shelf weart to the boards. Tear of 1.5 cm to the lower edge of the front end paper and one of 1 cm from the front edge of the rear end paper both with no loss. Evidence of moisture to the tail of the pages leaving a faint tide mark rising to 5cm along the inner margin. This tide-mark does not affect any illustrative plate nor text. Slight wrinkling to the lower edge of the rear boards where the water damage has occured. Otherwsie the book is clean and tight. A lovely well preserved copy of this book - the leaves are not thumbed or soiled as is so often the case with childrens book. Editions Jules Tallandier hardcover
