A scarce copy of this children's animal comic book from influential French illustrator Benjamin Rabier. First edition of this scarce work. In the publisher's original quarter cloth with illustrated boards. This charming children's book chronicles the mischievous adventures of Anatole a unique piglet and a group of animals including a duck cat rats bears and chickens. Written and illustrated by Benjamin Rabier who became famous for creating the logo for Laughing Cow Cheese and as one of the precursors of animal comics. In the publisher's original quarter cloth with illustrated boards. Externally with marks to the boards and rubbing and bumping to the extremities. Staples have failed with text block attached by spine only. Internally firmly bound. Pages are age toned however generally clean with heaviest scattered spotting to the first and last couple leaves.
